As I write this comment, there is some hubub on UA-cam because Rick Beato said that music has become too easy to create and consume. As I listen to you talk about this song, it occurs to me that what you're talking about is the flip side of that. Taking some time to make the parts a little more special (which is also easier to do these days but still requires experimentation and diligence) rewards the listener so much.

A stunning achievement - well done. Head Over Heels seems to be stuck in my head permanently recently (which watching this video hasn't helped). I'd love to see you cover something by Prince, maybe Sign O' The Times. The sounds on that, other than the Linn Drum are a mystery to me. I think most of that song was built on a Fairlight but the sounds are really interesting, particularly the bass sound.

Roland is a hard act to follow so yeah I know what you mean with the vocal issue. Having said this I’m really excited to watch this video and see how you did this. So far it sounds mighty close but the vocals are drier than the original version but overall still decent.

Great Video! The pitch shift on the intro guitar was probably a Floyd Rose vibrato on a super strat, like on Steve Stevens' Top Gun Theme... Its probably mechanic not digital, I don't think digital pitch shifting like that was out when the record was made

I'm pretty sure Roland just played that octave jump as opposed to us8ng a pitch shifter. Pitch shifting effects didn't track all that well back then.

Again another awesome recreation of an amazing song. What really comes across is this economic and sparse use of musical themes that interweave in interesting ways. This is a love letter to the genius of Tears for Fears. I can not listen to this particular song without choking up. Everything is exquisite about this song. The chord structure alone is a lesson in composition and arrangement. The intro keyboards remind me of churchbells ringing out over the city on a sunny day. So much feeling in this one. Very inspiring to watch.

My memory is that the Eventide H969 had a voltage control input that allowed it to do that kind of whammy-pedal pitch shift in the early '80s. It's been a long time, so I'm not 100% sure. Exceptional cover, as usual.
